Why designers and fabricators source here
- Widths nobody else stocks. One-piece tops 40–60″+ wide for conference tables, dining tables and islands. No glue seam down the middle. Wide slabs →
- Matched sets from one log. Sequential and book-matched slabs so three tables, a run of vanities or a wall of panels all read as one tree. Matched sets →
- You spec the exact slab. Every piece is photographed and listed with length, width range, thickness, board feet, species and drying status. What you pick is what shows up.
- Spec sheets with a moisture reading. We meter kiln-dried slabs and put the number on paper before it ships. What’s on a spec sheet →
- Curbside delivery to NYC. Priced per trip. Delivery details →
- Straight answers from the guy who cut it. Pop’s Barn is run by Bob Gockeler, who also founded an award-winning New Jersey design-build firm. We know how a project schedule works and what happens when a supplier goes quiet.
How ordering works
- Pick from inventory or send us the size, species and quantity you need. If it isn’t listed, it may be on the drying rack.
- Get a spec sheet — dimensions, board feet, moisture reading, photos of both faces.
- Put a deposit down to hold it for your client. Balance due before it leaves the yard.
- Pick up (we load with equipment on site) or book curbside delivery to NYC or North Jersey.

Questions we get
Where can designers source large live-edge slabs near New York City?
Pop’s Barn in Byram Township, NJ, about an hour from Manhattan, stocks live-edge slabs up to 76″ wide in walnut, white oak, elm, maple and more, with matched sets from single logs. Every slab is listed online with dimensions and price, and curbside delivery to NYC is available.
Can I reserve a slab for a client before they approve it?
Yes. A deposit holds the slab. Trade accounts can ask about longer holds.
Do you provide moisture readings on slabs?
Yes. We meter kiln-dried slabs and put the reading on the spec sheet with dimensions and photos.
Can I get several slabs from the same log for a project?
Often, yes. We mill logs into sequential slabs and list them together, so matched sets for multiple tables, panels or vanities are common. Tell us the quantity and size and we’ll check the rack.
Do you deliver slabs to Manhattan and Brooklyn?
Yes, curbside, priced per trip. We don’t carry into buildings — plan on your installer or rigger taking it from the curb.

What customers say
I was fortunate enough to stumble across Pop's Barn about a year ago, and I have never looked back. First and foremost - they are extremely knowledgeable and you are able to ask questions. Their inventory is second to none and they mill and kiln everything in house, so you know that you are getting quality. The products that I have purchased from them have been absolutely beautiful, including a large 12x4 foot oak slab that became my family dining room table. I have also purchased maple, black walnut, and other species - all of them were great. What also needs mentioning is the quality of people that Pops and Will are - working with them is like seeing old friends - they are welcoming, helpful, and always get back to me quickly with any request I may have. I look forward to a long partnership with them! You should too!
Can't say enough good things about Pops Barn. Finding kiln-dried lumber and beautiful, large slabs can be tough, but their selection and quality are top-tier. Great people and unmatched material.
Pops is where I go to source material. I know everything will be high quality and priced fairly.
