Matched & Book-Matched Live-Edge Slab Sets From One Log

Need three tables that look like they came from the same tree? They can. Pop’s Barn mills each log into sequential live-edge slabs and keeps them together, so designers and fabricators can buy matched sets from a single log — for multiple tables, vanity runs, wall panels, bar fronts or book-matched tops that assemble to 70″+ wide.

Sequential vs. book-matched

  • Sequential slabs are cut one after another from the same log. Same color, same grain character, nearly the same shape. Use them for a set of tables, matching desks, shelving runs, or panels.
  • Book-matched pairs are two neighboring slabs opened like a book, so the grain mirrors across the center seam. Use them for one wide top from a log that’s narrower than you need, or for a mirrored headboard, door pair or wall feature.

Sets we’ve milled recently

As of fall 2026, runs off the mill have included:

  • Black walnut, 12 feet long × 31–51″ wide × 3″ — six sequential slabs
  • Elm book-matched pairs, 12 feet long, assembling to 72–74″ wide
  • White oak, 8 feet long × up to 63″ wide — ten sequential slabs
  • Ambrosia maple, 11 feet long × up to 57″ wide — ten sequential slabs
  • Red oak, 12 feet long × up to 59″ wide — eleven sequential slabs

These sell. Check live inventory — sets are listed with sequence numbers so you can see which pieces came off the same log.

How to order a set

  1. Tell us how many pieces, the finished sizes, and the species or look.
  2. We check the rack for a run from one log that covers it, and send photos of each slab with dimensions.
  3. A deposit holds the whole set together so nobody buys the middle slab out from under you.

Questions we get

Can I buy multiple live-edge slabs from the same tree?

Yes. Pop’s Barn mills logs into sequential slabs and lists them together, so you can buy two, three or ten pieces from a single log for matching tables, vanities or panels.

What is a book-matched slab?

Two slabs cut next to each other in the log and opened like a book, so the grain mirrors across the joint. It’s how you get a wide, symmetrical top from a log that isn’t wide enough for one piece.
